JiveSlide Support - Failed Network Test
Step by Step instructions
Step 1) Make sure you are running BlackBerryOS 4.0 (or later)
If you have an older version of BlackBerryOS, please Download BlackBerryOS 4.0 and install it on your BlackBerry first. If you are not sure which version of BlackBerryOS you are running on your BlackBerry go to Options -> About and on the screen that pops up it will tell you.
Step 2) Choose your carrier
- Alltel
Note: Unfortunately, none of the Alltel BlackBerries support WAP APN access. No timeline is known for when this feature will be implemented by Alltel. For now the only solution is to get BES/MDS Hosting in order to make JiveSlide work.
- Bell Mobility
Note: Unfortunately, none of the Bell Mobility BlackBerries have a TCP/IP stack enabled. Not even the 7250. A future BlackBerryOS may fix this, or Bell Mobility might enable the feature in the future. No timeline known. For now, get BES/MDS Hosting in order to make JiveSlide work.
- Cingular Blue, (Former AT&T Wireless)
Go to Options-> Advanced Option -> TCP
APN: proxy
Username: {blank}
Password: {blank}
Note: If the above does not work call Cingular and ask them to get the "proxy Internet Access Point Name" added to your BlackBerry account at no extra charge. If they say it already exists, tell them to load up the records anyway, just to double check. There is something about when the Carrier re-loads the option your device refreshes and you then have the ability to access JiveSlide. Once you have saved the APN information, you should reboot your BlackBerry by removing and reinserting the battery.
- Cingular Orange
Go to Options-> Advanced Option -> TCP
APN: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
OR if that does not work
APN: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULAR.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
And if that still does not work, try:
APN: blackberry.net
Username: {blank}
Password: {blank]
Note: We know it seems odd that there might be three ways to try and gain access, but that is based on feedback from users in the field. If the above does not work call Cingular and ask them to get the "wap.cingular or blackberry.net Internet Access Point Name" added to your BlackBerry account at no extra charge. If they say it already exists, tell them to load up the records anyway, just to double check. There is something about when the Carrier re-loads the option your device refreshes and you then have the ability to access JiveSlide. Once you have saved the APN information, you should reboot your BlackBerry by removing and reinserting the battery.
- KPN - Netherlands
Go to Options-> Advanced Option -> TCP
APN: internet
Username: KPN
Password: gprs
NOTE: When sending e-mail to our support team please make sure you tell us what BlackBerryOS you are running, your Carrier (the phone company that you have service with), and as much detail as you can about the problem. that way we will be better equipped to help you out.
- Nextel/Telus - iDEN
Note: No APN/TCP settings required on iDEN units including 65XX, 75XX and 7100i. They are special because they are iDEN and more native TCP/IP. If you are experiencing issues running JiveSlide and passing the networking test then please send e-mail to support@jiveslide.com.
NOTE: When sending e-mail to our support team please make sure you tell us what BlackBerryOS you are running, your Carrier (the phone company that you have service with), and as much detail as you can about the problem. that way we will be better equipped to help you out.

Once you have saved the APN information, you should reboot your BlackBerry by removing and reinserting the battery.
- Rogers
Go to Options-> Advanced Option -> TCP
APN: internet.com

OR if that does not work
APN: blackberry.net
Username: {blank}
Password: {blank]
Note: If both of these do not work, call Rogers and get the "internet.com Access Point Name" added to your account. If they say it already exists, tell them to load up the records anyway, just to double check. There is something about when the Carrier re-loads the option your device refreshes and you then have the ability to access JiveSlide. Once you have saved the APN information, you should reboot your BlackBerry by removing and reinserting the battery.

Once you have saved the APN information, you should reboot your BlackBerry by removing and reinserting the battery.
- Sprint
Note: There is enough TCP/IP functionality in BlackBerryOS 4.0.0.204 or later, for JiveSlide to work. This BlackBerryOS is preinstalled on the model 7250. For the best TCP/IP support, you must use BES/MDS. You will need to pay $10 to $25 extra per month for BES/MDS Hosting in order to gain access to the Internet and TCP/IP software.
- Telus - CDMA
Note: Recently, in late 2005, this feature got activated on newer Telus units. Newer models including 7250 now has a TCP/IP stack, no configuration is needed for JiveSlide. The 6750 and 7750 models of BlackBerry will NOT work with JiveSlide.
- T-Mobile
Go to Options-> Advanced Option -> TCP
APN: wap.voicestream.com
Username: {blank}
Password: {blank}
Note: If the above does not work call T-Mobile and ask them to get the "wap.voicestream.com Internet Access Point Name" added to your BlackBerry account at no extra charge. If they say it already exists, tell them to load up the records anyway, just to double check. There is something about when the Carrier re-loads the option your device refreshes and you then have the ability to access JiveSlide.
